no pics today.

i was going to go to a baseball game tonight but the remnants of a typhoon started hitting us today right when i was leaving work. so the rest of the weekend it will be raning. a couple random observation:

-no one wears rain coats. just umbrellas. on my way over here people were looking at me weird because i had my raincoat on. screw them! im completely dry.
-about 80% of young women i see wear high heels-sometimes very high- with short skirts -sometimes very short
-the close elevator buttons actually work
-most of the things you expect to be sweet (candy/captain crunch looking cereal etc) are anything but sweet and things that are not supposed to be sweet (like break) are sweet
-any tshirt with writing on it is ALWAYS in english-well engrish- (sometimes "french" though i can tell it's "krench") i have yet to see a single tshirt with korean on it

the hair on my arms is quite a marvel apparently. i'll be sqatting down at a table helping a kid with their english and all of a sudden i will feel little fingers rubbing the hair on my arm. when i turn to see what is going on there is (this has happened exactly like this a few times) some kid completely entranced and absorbed in the hair on my arms. the whole world except my arm has disappeared.

I say hello about (literally) 50 times a day. about 80% (popluar number today!) of the kids that i see in the hall say hello to me. no matter how big or small the group. everytime i walk by a classroom the class gets completely disrupted because everyone is waving and saying hello to me. i think it might be wearing off a little though. we'll see when my novelty wears off. apropos if any of yall have self esteem problems you should come to korea and teach elementary school for a couple weeks.

when you write your memoir about living in korea, you need to title it "the whole world except my arm disappeared."

The hair on your arms is from good genes Will and obviously a 'Western' thing. You should paint (with a red marker) teeny little stars among the hairs. Anything to engage!

And maybe you should have Suki make some t-shirts with Engrish sayings and Korean text?
